Blower Door Testing
A blower door is a calibrated
fan (or blower) in a portable expanding frame, typically installed
in an exterior door opening. A blower door measures the total air
flow rate through all of the openings in a house by extracting air
pressure drop across the house. From this information the area of
all the house cracks and openings can be calculated to determine:
-
How much air must be added to change a building from operating
under negative air pressure to operating under a positive air pressure,
or vice versa.
-
Where the leakage occurs and exactly how much air is being let
out before restoration.
-
If there are any hidden or overlooked areas where air leakage occurs
so they can be corrected.
-
The positive results from the restoration work after completion.
This will show you the improvement on your home and the money you
will save from heat and cooling loss.
